Sometime on the first quarter of 2016 when Ptr Jayrel, District Overseer of Panay Island visited the Island of Boracay and met the couple, Mr & Mrs Manuel & Norma Ang, a relative of Mrs Mimer Cabus, the wife of our late Bishop Apolonio Cabus of COG ESCALANTE, Negros Occidental. This couple has a big heart for the Lord and desires to give a property for church to be planted in the Island.

And this gave birth to the vision of planting COG BORACAY.  Timely, the national office had organize its mission program under the NATIONAL OUTREACH DEPARTMENT (NOD) with Bishop Cleto Anabo as the Chairman of the office and having five regional representatives to the NOD.

The department had then decided to make COG BORACAY as their pilot project for the NOD and thus, all efforts have been exerted to start the mission. It started with Sis Jo, a missionary and worker of COG ILOILO, that stayed at the island for about 3 months or more. She established the relationship with the couple who gave 400 sq. mtrs area piece of property for the church.

          Then followed by Ptr. Aida Troupe from CSL Region who also stayed in the island for more than a month doing evangelism and outreach activities. Then Ptr Monico from NLR came, together with Ptr Jayrel, they surveyed the area for the possible building of the church. All these activities where in preparation not only for the physical but most of all the spiritual preparation of the mission work to be done. Then the need to find the right person called by the Lord to Pastor COG BORACAY. As Pastor Monico and Pastor Jayrel is praying and scouting for a worker, a Pastor from Alicia, Isabela, North Luzon, Pastor Alex Salvador came to Boaracay together with the two Pastors to spy the land for mission and seeing the possibility to accept the challenge to Pastor the island.

          The first prospect for worker did not push through and the two Pastors, are back to pray and look for the next potential Pastor for the church planting. Then, came a young Pastor from Panabo City Mindanao in the name of Pastor Ezekiah Ligero. He had his bible school training in NLRegion and he is the son of Ptr Irenio Ligero Jr. of COG PANABO and the grandson of the late Ptr Irenio Ligero Sr. the twin brother of former National Overseer Dr. Mark Ligero and Ptr of COG MANGILALA, Sultan Kudarat.

          The confirmation of the Lord to Pastor Ezekiah Ligero to pastored in Boracay is in March 22, 2017 5:27pm, Pastor Ezekiah Ask the Lord for 5 confirmation, the Lord used 5 People to confirm his Pastoring, first is Ptr Monico simon, 2nd Ptr Ernest olonan , 3rd Ptr Ramil Alvaro, 4th Joanne Jane Ligero(wife) and the last is Ptr Jun Ligero (father). The challenge and vision was embraced by this Pastor with his family with big faith considering that he is coming from a different region and coming to a new place with totally different culture of place and people.

 

          The vision for this mission work of church planting is now coming to reality as Ptr Monico & Ptr Jayrel started to let their local churches COG MADELLA & COG ILOILO get involved in the realization of the plan for the church. In May 6, 2017 Our great men from our churches all joined forces to contribute to this church planting, from clearing the 400 sq. mtrs property to the actual construction of the church in Boracay up to contributing to the funds for this church planting.

            in September 3, 2017 COG Boracay Start their Sunday service with 20 children and 1 adult attendees. COG Boracay had 7 bible study weekly and 70 members including children. COG Boracay today is moving forward for more people to share the Gospel of JESUS. The church is now connecting to Mega World hotels to put working place in the establishment to share the gospel of Jesus to all employees and bosses in the company with the help of Bro Rhafy Perez a COO of Mega World. COG Boracay today is Moving to spread the Gospel of Jesus!
